These are the terms Sports Axiom uses everywhere — on public pages, in the admin console, and in this Help Center. When a page uses a capitalized term, this is what it means.
- Event
- A single competition an organizer publishes and runs: divisions, entries, schedule, scores, and results under one public page.
- Series
- A recurring tournament identity that outlives any single year — the ongoing "City Open" rather than the 2026 edition of it.
- Series Edition
- One year or season of a Series. Each edition is its own event with its own entries and results, linked from the Series page.
- Event Public Page
- The browser-facing page for an event: dates, formats, rule notes, standings, brackets, and live match links — no app required.
- Organizer Microsite
- The public home for a Series: its editions, results history, and organizer information under one stable address.
- Competition Entry
- A player, pair, or team registered in a division. Often shortened to "Entry" — the thing that appears in standings and draws.
- Division
- A grouping inside an event that competes together — typically by level, age group, or discipline — with its own format and standings.
- Draw
- The generated structure of who plays whom: a round-robin schedule or a knockout bracket, depending on the division format.
- Match
- One contest between two entries, from scheduling or direct play through an official score.
- Score Confirmation
- A legacy recovery state for older imported or in-flight results. New player-entered scores are authoritative immediately and update standings without opponent approval.
- Score Correction
- An organizer-recorded fix to an official score, with an audit trail. Rating history is replayed so results stay consistent.
- Sports Axiom Level (NCL)
- The match-derived rating a player holds on Sports Axiom, kept separately for singles and doubles.
- Match Level
- The public half-point display band of a rating — 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and so on. What organizers and other players see.
- Confidence Score
- The player-facing bucket that says how settled a rating currently is. Rises with official results, decays with inactivity.
- Organizer Trust Index
- A planned organizer-quality signal built from event history — on-time completion, dispute handling, and communication.
- Match Story
- A planned narrative view of a completed match: the score line, momentum, and milestones, built from official data.
- Series Timeline
- The year-over-year history view on a Series microsite: editions, champions, and notable results in order.
- External Rating
- A rating a player holds outside Sports Axiom and records themselves. Labeled with its source and never used in Sports Axiom competition math.
- Rating-Enabled Event
- An event whose official results update Sports Axiom Levels. Organizers can also run unrated events.
- Provisional
- The state of a rating still dominated by the Self Seed or too few results. Shown as a badge until confidence builds.
- Inactive
- The state of a player with no official results for an extended stretch. The level is retained while its confidence decays.
- Public Support Contact
- The person or inbox an organizer publishes with an event so entrants always have somewhere to take a question.
- Multi-Line Team Tennis
- The team format: fixtures made of several singles and doubles lines, where line wins decide the team result.
- Short-Set Knockout
- A single-elimination format using shortened set structures so a bracket can finish in a day.
- Round-Robin Plus Playoff
- A two-stage format: a round-robin stage ranks the division, then the top finishers advance into a knockout playoff.
- Self Seed
- A new player's honest estimate of their own level, chosen at registration. Its influence decays over roughly the first six official matches.
- Form Trend
- A lightweight indicator of a player's recent direction - improving, steady, or cooling - based on recent official results.
